What types of mounting structures are there?

On flat roofs, a ballasted (weighted) system is typical: the waterproofing does not have to be penetrated, and the structure is held in place by concrete blocks or gravel ballast. In this case a structural assessment is always required, because the roof receives an additional load — for industrial halls this is the most common constraint, not the size of the available area. On trapezoidal sheet roofs, we work with special elements fixed to the sheet ribs, without ballast, which means a considerably smaller additional load. On tiled roofs, roof-hook solutions are used. For ground-mounted installations, driven or screwed pile foundations are standard, sometimes with concrete footings — a geotechnical survey is a mandatory element here. Solar carports, built over parking areas, are a separate category: besides generating power, they provide covered parking and EV charging infrastructure. The choice is not an aesthetic question: the roof type, the structural reserve, the wind load zone and the fire safety distances together determine what can be installed — which is why every project starts with an on-site survey.
