Energy storage grants for companies
Most searches for “energy storage grants” return residential content — yet Hungary’s largest-ever industrial energy storage support programme is running on the corporate side. This page covers corporate options only: what you can apply for, how it can be combined with tax incentives, and which route to take if a grant is not an option.
Written from a contractor’s perspective — we work on the delivery side of successful grant applications.
The corporate route: the Jedlik Ányos Energy Storage Programme
The main funding source for industrial-scale battery storage investments is the Jedlik Ányos Programme: non-refundable grants for corporate BESS systems, with an optional solar PV extension. Key facts:

⚠ What this page does NOT cover: residential grants
Home solar + storage subsidies (residential programmes) form an entirely separate scheme, with different conditions and amounts. If you are planning a corporate investment, residential search results are misleading — the corporate route is the Jedlik Programme combined with tax incentives.
The combination few people talk about: grant + TAO tax incentive
The energy efficiency tax incentive under §22/H of the Corporate Tax Act (TAO) can be claimed alongside the Jedlik grant — together the two can cover a substantial part of the investment cost. The limit is the EU (GBER) combined aid intensity:
| Company size | GBER combined ceiling |
|---|---|
| Small enterprise | max. 50% |
| Medium-sized enterprise | max. 40% |
| Large enterprise | max. 30% |
If the grant does not exhaust the ceiling, the difference can be topped up with TAO — claimed over 6 years. On the financing side, the EXIM Green Investment Loan can complement this (max. 15-year term, EUR 2.7–4.7% / HUF 3.46–5.46%). Detailed worked examples: TAO tax incentive for battery storage →
And if a grant is not an option?
Two routes remain, and both work without a grant:
The TAO tax incentive on its own
It is available as of right once the conditions are met — no competitive call, no risk of the budget running out. On its own it materially improves the payback of the investment.
Without capital investment: the service model
Under Energy Infrastructure as a Service, ICP installs and operates the system and you subscribe — the service fee is lower than the savings. Zero CAPEX, no grant application risk. Details →
Frequently asked questions
Which battery storage grants are available to companies in 2026?+
The main funding source for industrial and corporate battery storage investments is the Jedlik Ányos Energy Storage Programme: non-refundable grants for industrial-scale (BESS) systems, optionally with a solar PV extension. The call has been open since 10 February 2026 and is managed by NEÜ Zrt. Residential battery storage grants (home storage) form an entirely separate scheme — they do not apply to companies.
Can the grant be combined with the TAO tax incentive?+
Yes. The energy efficiency tax incentive under §22/H of the Corporate Tax Act (TAO) can be claimed together with the Jedlik grant, but it is capped by the combined EU (GBER) aid intensity ceiling: at most 50% for small enterprises, 40% for medium-sized and 30% for large enterprises. If the grant does not exhaust the ceiling, the difference can be topped up with the TAO incentive.
What if the company did not win a grant, or missed the call?+
The TAO incentive can be claimed as of right, independently of any grant, provided the statutory conditions are met — over 6 years, for a substantial part of the investment. In addition, under the Energy Infrastructure as a Service model the system can be delivered without capital investment: ICP installs and operates it, the company subscribes, and the service fee is lower than the savings.
