KÁT / Premium / Storage fund
The KÁT (mandatory feed-in tariff) fund and the Premium fund are the cost of the support scheme for renewable generators, borne by every electricity consumer in proportion to its consumption. From 2026 a third element has been added: the Storage fund. The charge changes every month — even under a fixed-price contract: it is the only energy-cost component that the supplier cannot build into a fixed price.

The lesson of the full series: the KÁT/Premium/Storage surcharge is strongly seasonal — it reached an annual peak of 11.29 HUF/kWh in June 2025, and 14.79 HUF/kWh in April 2026. In January 2026 the KÁT fund was negative (−0.36 HUF/kWh in total), meaning consumers received a credit. The Storage fund is a new element from 2026, on a rising path (0.04 → 0.21 HUF/kWh in the first half-year).

Jan–Feb 2025: zero, because a negative fund value could not be invoiced until the rule change at the end of 2025. The Storage fund is an active charge element from 2026.
Why does this matter for a solar PV decision?
The KÁT/Premium/Storage surcharge is payable on every kWh drawn from the grid — but not on consumption covered by your own solar generation. In the summer months, when the surcharge is highest (14.79 HUF/kWh in April 2026), solar PV generates the most — so the savings move together with the surcharge peaks.
Under a fixed-price contract this is the only variable component; under a spot contract it is a second variable layer beside the HUPX price. The exact annual impact can be calculated once the consumption profile is known.
