Self-consumption rate
The share of solar generation used locally at the site; typically 80–95% for industrial plants.
The self-consumption rate shows what share of solar generation the site uses locally, instead of it flowing toward the grid. For industrial plants with good sizing, 80–95% is typical.
The higher the self-consumption, the greater the savings (every kWh used locally replaces the full all-in price) and the lower the reverse-power exposure. It can be increased by accurate sizing, east–west orientation (spreading generation over the day), and battery storage (shifting the surplus in time).
The exact self-consumption rate can be determined by a simulation run on the 15-minute consumption profile.
