Contracted capacity
The maximum power (kW) contracted at the grid connection, on which a fixed annual capacity charge is payable — reducing it with a BESS is a saving.
Contracted capacity is the maximum kW fixed in the grid connection agreement that the consumer may draw. On it, the consumer pays a fixed annual capacity charge, regardless of actual consumption.
Its rate differs by voltage level (medium voltage, KÖF: 15,924 HUF/kW/year). If battery storage reduces the peak load through peak shaving, the contracted capacity can also be lowered in agreement with the distribution system operator — a direct annual saving.
This is an independent source of BESS value, separate from arbitrage. Tariff rates: Network usage charges.
